Maria Silvia Bastos Marques named President and CEO of Goldman Sachs Brazil

SÃO PAULO, February 06, 2018 – The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (NYSE: GS) today announced that Maria Silvia Bastos Marques has been named president and CEO of Goldman Sachs Brazil. Maria Silvia will join the firm in April and will report to Gonzalo Garcia and Ram Sundaram, co-heads of Latin America.

Maria Silvia will be responsible for managing and helping to grow the firm’s Brazil business. She will preside over the Management Committee of Goldman Sachs Brazil.

In her career, Maria Silvia has held several positions at BNDES, the Brazilian development bank, mostly recently as its president. In Rio de Janeiro, she served as the municipal finance secretary and as president of the Rio 2016 Olympic Committee. She was the president of Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN), the Brazilian Steel Institute and Icatu Seguros, and was a partner at MS & CR2 Finanças Corporativas. She has also served on the advisory boards of Petrobras and Vale. Maria Silvia has a degree in public administration and a PhD in economics from the Fundação Getúlio Vargas.
