Teams made up of nearly 300 analysts from Goldman Sachs offices around the world competed to win grants from Goldman Sachs Gives to support innovative non-profit organizations of their choice. The Goldman Sachs Gives Analyst Impact Fund is sponsored by the Partnership Committee, whose mission is to steward the firm’s culture and cultivate our current and future leaders. The initiative provides analysts with the opportunity to collaborate with peers across the firm to make an impact in the communities where we live and work.

On July 11, 2017, the top six teams presented to Chairman and CEO Lloyd Blankfein, President and Co-COOs David Solomon and Harvey Schwartz, and the firm’s Partnership Committee, who voted to award the grand prize of $150,000 to Kiron Open Higher Education. Kiron is a Berlin-based non-profit which connects refugees to content, mentoring, and accreditation needed to achieve higher education, which had been pitched by a group of London-based analysts. Second Place was awarded to Educate Girls, supported by a team in Bengaluru and London, while Third Place went to a team from New York that pitched the Bronx Freedom Fund.

Applications were judged across a number of criteria, including the non-profit’s leadership, reach and potential for impact, the uniqueness of the proposed project or work of the non-profit, the team’s analysis of the project goals, and the scalability of the organization’s work. Each of the finalists presented creative solutions to pressing social challenges in underserved communities around the world.
