Update: Goldman Sachs India Internship

27 APR 2020

  • We are reaffirming our commitment to our incoming summer interns and full-time hires
  • Interns in India will have a virtual internship ranging four to six weeks starting May 4, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought challenging times for all of us. As a follow up to our recent update on our continued focus on delivering a safe and effective summer internship program around the world, we wanted to share an update on our India program specifically.

Goldman Sachs Bengaluru has re-affirmed our commitment to our incoming summer interns and full-time hires and have now confirmed that our interns will do a virtual internship for a duration of four to six weeks starting May 4, 2020. The campus recruiting team in India is looking forward to virtually welcoming more than 1,450 campus hires across the country. The recruiting team has engaged with over 100 schools to understand the impact on academic calendars, student dispersion and curriculum requirements to  determine how we can best support both summer interns and full-times hires.

“Goldman Sachs is committed to honoring offers extended to all interns and full-time hires. While it is always important for organizations to be accretive to their ecosystems, this is especially true in a crisis scenario, and we are proud to do our part. Banking is a highly regulated industry and moving to a virtual internship model required solving for various issues including information security and data privacy. Our teams have worked extensively with stakeholders to enable this innovative solution to provide an inclusive experience and we look forward to welcoming our interns soon!“ said Gunjan Samtani, Head of Goldman Sachs Services in India.

“Our team is closely monitoring the situation across all colleges – we have an unwavering commitment to ensure all our interns get the best-in-class internship experience,” said Anuj Vohra, Head of India Campus Recruiting.

Interns can continue to look forward to a robust schedule of programming from virtual group meet and greets and one on one catch ups to virtual skill building trainings and group projects. The internship program will culminate into a final presentation to global and local leadership.

As new developments and challenges emerge on a daily basis, we continue to review, track and respond keeping in mind the emphasis on the safety and wellbeing of its people. The firm has also implemented a series of precautionary and business continuity measures. In addition, Goldman Sachs has committed to $1 million in grants to non-profits across India to help provide critical relief and support to those most vulnerable during this crisis. Goldman Sachs has also launched an employee match program, matching all employee donations of INR 1900 & under, and much larger contributions dollar-for-dollar.

We look forward to sharing more updates with all of our interns globally as soon as we’re able.
