Goldman Sachs Summer Intern Insights

As we return to our offices for the first time in over a year in some of our locations, we are also ushering in the newest class of summer interns. Our interns are joining us in person, where safe to do so, and virtually across the globe.

Welcome Zoom call with Hong Kong and Singapore Private Wealth Management interns and apprentices

Through our Summer Intern Insights Series, we will be periodically checking in with our interns to gather their real time reflections on their summer internships experiences here at the firm. Continue reading to see what they had to say when we asked them to reflect on their initial experiences:

What were you most excited about leading up to the start of the program?

Jeremy
Finance Planning and Analysis, New York City

“Last year, after spending hours on Zoom with my manager during the virtual program, I was looking forward to being able to reconnect with her in person at the office for the 2021 program. She had invested so much time into the shortened program to make it the most rewarding experience it could be for me and I was excited to learn about what my team had been up to since then.”

Daulet
Engineering, London

“Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, I have always wondered how the firm consistently follows its core value of “innovation” and how people at GS drive that innovation. One of the notable events I was looking forward to was a GS Developer Experience Discussion with Marco Argenti. I thought it would be a great opportunity to connect with and learn from GS engineers all over the globe."

Tell us about your first few weeks. What were some of your highlights?

Salt Lake City office welcome event

Nelly
Global Markets, Salt Lake City

“Being able to meet my manager and working to get all of my systems to work. Meeting some interns before going into the office also allowed me to be less nervous about coming to work.”

Alexander
Controllers, London

“Seeing Simon Birtwistle talk about his role within derivatives automation within the firm in the Make an Impact Zoom meeting whilst caring for his young baby. It was a great example of Goldman being an inclusive and dynamic company.”

Christy

Consumer and Wealth Management, Singapore

“The highlight would be finally getting to meet the other interns and the team (although virtually)! I also found the training sessions and networking calls really enriching as they gave me a greater insight into the culture and work in Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management.””

What are you looking forward to for the rest of the program?

Ashwathy

Investment Banking, Bengaluru

"I’m looking forward to getting hands on experience in the field of investment banking and to enhance my network."
