On what drew him to policing: “I graduated from college and law school, so I may have had a leg up [from an education perspective], but I fell in love with the excitement, the adventure on the street.”

On policing in New York City: “New York City is the most diverse city in the world. We have police officers born in 106 countries. [Within the NYPD], we have all of these fraternal groups that are reflective of the diversity.”
