After getting an undergraduate degree in psychology, I moved to Australia and got a master’s degree in international business. That is what sparked my interest in working for an international firm like Goldman Sachs. I first worked as a futures broker in Sydney, then moved to Tokyo to look for another job. I sent my CV to a recruiter and received an interview at Goldman Sachs in Tokyo.

The best thing about working here is the people. From my first day with the firm, everyone was so friendly and welcoming that it really helped ease my transition. I had a lot of new things to learn all around—from software to terminology. Every day, I still learn something new from my colleagues.

Over my 13 years here, my responsibilities have grown. I started out in our Tokyo location in the Foreign Exchange Middle Office, where I worked closely with others on my team to help the firm manage operational risks and meet regulatory requirements. I also built up an internal network of colleagues across different divisions, which helped me learn more about other areas of the firm. In 2015, I was transferred to New Business Franchise Group in our Sydney office and worked closely with clients, sales and various other internal teams in new clients and new businesses engagement and facilitation. Most recently in 2020, I expanded my responsibilities covering our top tier clients on post-execution operational flows in Australia and New Zealand in the Client Coverage Group.

In my current role as vice president in the New Business Franchise Group and Client Coverage Group, I act as the single point of contact servicing our top clients from front to back and make sure they have an excellent experience with Goldman Sachs from onboarding to post trading operational flows. I liaise between clients and the firm’s internal stakeholders, manage business priorities from business and clients, and ensure the expectations are met for our clients.

Each year, I enjoy taking part in the firm’s Community TeamWorks program. Community TeamWorks gives employees the chance to partner with local nonprofits to make a difference in our community. Recently, my colleagues in the Sydney office volunteered at a rugby match to benefit local indigenous children. We helped set up the event and spent time with the kids, answering their questions about working in the finance industry. It was a special experience.

Outside of work, I enjoy family, exercise, and travel. I spend most of my free time with my family, including my two young children. I also try my best to exercise every day. On weekends, I enjoy hiking, though with my two little ones, going long distances is more challenging! The most memorable hiking experience I had was climbing Mount Fuji. Next on my bucket list is a trip to New Zealand.
