US Returnship® Program Opens for Applications

11 OCT 2017

The Goldman Sachs Returnship® Program, which helps talented professionals restart their careers after an extended absence from the workforce, is now accepting applications for the 2018 season.

This paid, 8-week program was designed specifically for those who left the workforce for two or more years and are ready to return. Since 2008, the program has offered participants exposure to the vast network of resources at Goldman Sachs, from training, networking and support from the firm’s senior leaders, to hands-on work experience with meaningful responsibilities in a variety of divisions.

“The Returnship® program accelerated my relaunch—I didn't have to explain the years that I was out of the workforce or how I fit into the organization,” said Sangita, a participant in the 2016 program and now working full-time as a Vice President in the Finance Division. “I was able to assess my fit in my department of choice before making a long-term commitment, and most importantly, it offered me the opportunity to do challenging work with people that I like and respect and who appreciate that I bring valuable experience to the table.”

“Being part of a structured program like this provides a supportive environment for what can be a difficult transition,” said Amy, a 2017 participant and now full-time associate in the Risk Division. She added, “the program provided sessions to refresh skills such as computing and capital markets knowledge, as well as bringing in senior leaders from around the firm to help us learn about the unique culture of the firm."

For anyone thinking about returning to work, Amy’s message is: “go for it!” “The program was an amazing opportunity to learn, and I was surprised by how quickly some of the things came back to me that I thought I may have lost while on my career break,” she said.

Candidates can apply to any of our divisions in participating offices.
